This study examines the relationship between gender equality and life satisfaction as a proxy for subjective well-being in the European Union (EU). The analysis considers country-level achievements captured by the EU Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 5 indicators related to women's tertiary education, pay and employment gaps, caring responsibilities, and representation in political and managerial leadership. Fuzzy-set Qualitative Comparative Analysis (fsQCA) is used to identify combinations associated with high and low life satisfaction. The findings identify a number of combinations of EU SDG 5 achievements that are associated with life satisfaction which display patterns consistent with synergy, substitution and suppression. The results emphasize the association of gender equality achievements jointly rather than in isolation in relation to well-being attainment.
